Need A Parking Space? Look In Your Hand
In the NPR article “Need A Parking Space? Look In Your Hand” (2011), Richard Gonzales shows the public an app project where San Francisco drivers can see available parking spaces and how much the space costs. First, R. Gonzales demonstrates the frustrations for search a parking space and explain how San Francisco is trying to help the public with the technology. In the topic of Demand-Based Parking Prices he explains how the app works in San Francisco, the pricing structure and the name of the app, SFpark. After, he shows the cities which are following suit from San Francisco app. Richard Gonzales concludes with an important point which is the distraction that the smartphone app could be to drivers who were supposed to keep their eyes on the road, but says the city officials are trying to downplay that risk.
